DIOCESAN SHRINE OF OUR LADY OF ARANZAZU

Address: Gen.Luna St., Guitnangbayan I, San Mateo 1850 Rizal
Contact Number: (02) 570 9220
This first image of the Nuestra Señora de Aranzazu is said to have been brought to the Philippines by a Spanish captain from the Basque region aboard a galleon trade ship from Oñate, Spain, the site of an apparition of Our Lady of Aranzazu. The image is believed to have ensured the safe journey of the ship and its passengers despite being caught in the midst of a raging storm. This is the only parish named after Our Lady of Aranzazu in the Philippines. In June 2004, the Diocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Aranzazu was canonically erected to the joyous thanksgiving and celebration of the parishioners and all her devotees.

NATURE

MOUNT SINAI AT PINTONG BUKAWE

Nestled in the heart of Pintong Bukawe just past Giant in Maarat you'll find an alternative to the well worn rest stop.  It's a place brimming with potential and has been recently opened to the public.  It's called Camp Sinai.
It allows for a magnificent view of the surrounding landscape that stretches from the Sierra Madre mountains, Laguna de Bay and the metro.  A perfect place to cap your weekend ride or simply use it as a jump-off point to other ride destinations like Casile or Wawa Gorge.

There you'll also find the current world record holder for the largest 10 Commandments in the world.  According to the locals this was a gift from the Israel.  It also once held the record for the largest draped flags in the world (but this has since been broken).
Ample benches are littered around the place under shaded trees.  So there will be enough room for you and your buddies to sit and chat about your latest adventure or one you're planning on starting.  And of course when you get to this destination you'll likely be hungry.  Look no further as they also sell some of the best mami you can get in Rizal Province.  Pies are also a specialty; buko, apple and sayote.  The sayote pie is a must try here.

How to get there?

If you're coming from Timberland; pass Giant until you reach the next T-intersection.  You'll find a big tractor's wheel they used as a roundabout.  Turn left here.  Follow this road and bear right.  You'll reach a 3-fork in the road - more like a road to your left with a fork just 20m in front of you.  Take the left side of the fork.  You'll pass a small clump of houses and immediately reach the gate of Camp Sinai.  Turn right after you enter the gate and shift to your granny and start climbing.  It's worth it.
